Residents await the outcome of a December 21 town meeting in reference to the fate of broadband internet service for Chincoteague.
Tentatively, Dewberry & Davis (Engineer), DHCD, and Mid-Atlantic Broadband Cooperative (MBC) has eliminated the spur to Chincoteague in their RFP for construction because the new bridge will not be finished within their timeframe.

The Chincoteague Bridge project is well underway with lots of new construction visible. The concrete bridge pile tests were successful and the actual bridge piles are being constructed by project’s contractor, American Bridge. In addition, four of the six massive transmission line poles have been installed in preparation for relocating power lines.

A town hall meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 11th, 7 p.m. at the Chincoteague Center. During the meeting, Delegate Lynwood W. Lewis, Jr. will be seeking input from Island citizens before the start of the Virginia General Assembly Session in January.
