Chincoteague YMCA Summer Programs
The local YMCA has a variety of exciting programs happening this summer.
Nicole Bartlett will be teaching Yoga for Beginners offered by the Chincoteague Island Family YMCA. This class is for all levels and all ages. Nicole is new to teaching and very excited to have this opportunity. She holds a degree in horticulture and biology before now pursuing the art of yoga. She has been studying yoga the past seven years. Yoga builds flexibility, strength, and balance as well as improving relaxation techniques.
Nicole explained “it is more about the effort than the yoga positions looking perfect and incorporating proper breathing techniques”. She believes the biggest benefit of yoga can be a new level of body awareness producing a more conscious human being who recognizes their own stress and manages it well. Her mission is to encourage healing through working with your body and yoga can produce both a healthy body as well as a healthy mind frame.
Classes get underway June 30 (Wednesdays 8am-9:15am Chincoteague High School Gym and Saturdays 4-5:15pm Old elementary Gym off Church St) For now the cost of class is only a donation to the local food bank.
Rick Hubb, our resident trainer and nutritionist at the Chincoteague Island Family YMCA, is about to begin his Boot Camps! Boot Camp is an exciting way to get in shape in a group class format. Rick will keep everyone focused while teaching you how to find success in personal fitness.
