Bill Yates and the Country Gentlemen Tribute Band to Play in Chincoteague
On Saturday, June 19 “Bill Yates and the Country Gentlemen Tribute Band” will return to The Chincoteague Center for a 7 pm Concert.
Bill Yates was a member of The Country Gentlemen from 1969-1989, recording 17 projects with the group and traveling the world over. He’s received numerous awards for his work with not only the “Gents” but also with Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, and Red Allen.
Most recently, Bill has been dubbed as “The Ambassador Of Bluegrass” by not only his adoring fans but also promoters and fellow musicians alike. Joining Bill in this re-creation of the Original Country Gentlemen are six of the best musicians in the East. David Propst on Mandolin, Kevin Church on Banjo,
Mike Clifton on Dobro, Terry Pearson on upright bass, Darren Beachley, guitar & vocals, and Mike Phipps who’s voice sounds incredibly like that of the great Charlie Waller.
They released their first CD project in 2006 that became an instant hit and followed it up with “Tribute 2″ in 2009.
After deciding to take the re-created sound on the road in tribute, Bill Yates and the Country Gentlemen Tribute Band always look forward to performing their “Country Gentlemen” sound out not only in honor of bluegrass icon , Charlie Waller, but also because everyone in the band continue to be huge fans; proudly proclaiming that the “Country Gentlemen” were one of the most influential bluegrass groups in this or any other era.
