Saturday, May 9 – 2nd Saturday Art Stroll

Take Mom out for an entertaining evening of art, music and culture during the 2nd Saturday Art Stroll on Saturday, May 9 from 6:00pm -10:00pm. The Art Stroll is organized by the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance (CCA), with CCA member shops and galleries offering a wide variety of artistic and cultural activities throughout the evening. CCA is also sponsoring the 2nd annual Mother Earth Day Festival in Robert Reed Downtown Waterfront Park from 10:00am – 5:00pm the same day. Learn how you can help Mother Earth during the day and expand your artistic horizons in the evening.

DEMONSTRATIONS AND EXHIBITIONS

aNopheles Blues Gallery – “Little Paintings”.  Eye candy.  They melt in your heart, not in your hands. Mothers love ‘em.

Gull Watch Basketry – Basket making demonstrations by Helen Sheets – 10:00am – 3:00pm

Island Cottage Collection – Metalsmithing by Jim Warren, exotic soaps and fragrances
by Marianne Warren, wood carving by Hunter Wolfe and “Seascapes” – a group  exhibit by Eastern Shore painters Jack Richardson, Bill Carpenter & Guy Wilkins

Psychotronic Music & Beads  – Glass bead making by Mia Weldon

Sundial Books – Curtis J. Badger signs copies of his books on the Virginia Coast – 1:00 – 2:30pm; Peter Uprichard displays his stained glass works 6:00 -8:00pm

Threadgoodes – Tasting from their NEW GOURMET food lines

Visions of Color – Dichroic glass jewelry making by Pamela Stambaugh

Wine, Cheese & More -  Wine-tasting with Wines from Brazil.  No charge but donations to CCA scholarship fund are appreciated

Island Arts – Chincoteague’s own Bill Troxler plays hammered dulcimer.

Psychotronic Music & Beads – Tunes from WCTG’s spinmeister Hizz Honor, DJ Michael.

Egret Moon ArtWorks – Drumming a Circle ‘Round the Moon.  Bring your favorite drywall mud bucket to The Garden and we’ll make the moon wish it was down here. No fee, rhythm required. Six ‘til we break our stix.

2ndS Soirée  -  aNoPheles Blues Gallery  “There are always fine times at our place, Because nobody gets into your face,  Where we sit and write limericks,  And laugh at our word tricks,  And imbibe at a frightening pace.”  Rhyming starts @ 8pm

Keep in mind that while the shops and galleries listed above have special events scheduled this month, other members feature art, books, antiques and specialty foods in their shops and many provide special treats during the art stroll. These include Bayside Arts Co-op, Flying Fish Gallery, Guenivers, Island Butterfly, the Osprey Nest Gallery and Vintage Rose Antiques and Collectibles.
