Surprise Noreaster Hits Chincoteague Island
A Noreaster of surprising ferocity pounded Chincoteague Island on May 11-12, 2008. Reports claimed that seas off the coast reached heights of 20 feet, driven by easterly winds of to 45+ knots. The island suffered wind damage, erosion and some flooding.

By Tuesday the skies cleared and the island is quickly returning to normal.
