Free Downtown Concert - Valor Brass
Valor Brass Ensemble will perform a mix of patriotic, familiar and classical compositions in a free concert at 4 p.m. on Armed Forces Day, Saturday May 17, 2007 in Reed Park in downtown Chincoteague.
Most of the members of Valor Brass are members of the “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band. These world class musicians bring to Chincoteague the long standing American tradition of a brass ensemble concert in a public park
Valor Brass is led by trombonist Chris Clark who has been a member of the “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band since 1999. Mr. Clark holds a Masters degree from Julliard School of Music is currently a doctoral student at The Catholic University of America.
Hillary Hart plays French horn in Valor Brass. She earned her Masters of Music at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in 2002 and is currently pursing her Doctor of Musical Arts form the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a member of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band and has performed with the National, Annapolis and Richmond symphony orchestras.
Daniel Orban plays trumpet in Valor Brass. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and is currently a member of “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band. Prior to joining “The President’s Own”, Mr. Orban was a member of the U.S. Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, Maryland.
Christopher Smith also plays trumpet in Valor Brass. He is an alumnus of the Eastman School of Music. His performance credentials include concerts with the Rochester Philharmonic and the West Shore, Kalamzoo and Harrisburg Symphony orchestras. Mr. Smith is a member of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band.
The Valor Brass ensemble is anchored by Christopher Tiedeman who plays tuba. He is an alumnus of the Eastman School of Music and joined “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band in the spring of 2002. Mr. Tiedeman won the International Tuba and Euphonium Association’s solo competition in 2000.
Bring a chair or spread a blanket to enjoy the American tradition of a brass band recital and celebrate Armed Forces Day in Chincoteague.
The Valor Brass concert is part of the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance’s Music at the Dock Series made possible by grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the Town of Chincoteague.
