More Chincoteague Island Earth Day Events
Earth day collaborators are displaying local art trash cans for people to view from now until the local Earth Day celebration. Trash cans are displayed in local window store fronts on Main Street. These trash cans have been painted by local artists and are going to be sold via silent auction at the Earth Day Celebration April 9, 2008 in Robert Reed Park.
Also added to the day’s celebration the American Legion of Chincoteague is going to be giving away 400 free hot dogs and chips. They will also be accepting old tattered American flags for recycling. Local high school students will be displaying their annual art bunnies.
Bay Country 97.9 plans to do a live remote on location. The Marine Consortium plans to educate on clean water and have touch tanks. And The Wood Song Duo made up of two jazz musicians will be performing.
The Farmers’ market kicks off its’ annual season at the celebration. Also the Local Food Project will be there. This event is working with the town of Chincoteague to use the celebration to kick off “The Town Clean Up” which occurs the following week. The day is going to be jam packed with fun in both learning and just a care free time. Proceeds from this event will be funding the planting of a large shade tree to be placed in the park for all to enjoy!
