November 2007 Chincoteague Bridge Project Update
For November progress on the new Chincoteague Bridge project is much more visible. Power line relocations are underway as well as bridge piling construction. This work will continue throughout the fall on Marsh Island. VDOT and Delmarva Power are involved with the project and are engineering the power line relocation operations to avoid power interruptions whenever possible.
Single lane closures on the causeway leading to Black Narrows Bridge and at Marsh Island will continue through November for power line relocation work. During this period, vehicle traffic may be stopped so that workers can unload materials at the causeway end of Black Narrows Bridge (West approach). Traffic delays in both directions are possible to assure the safety of the traveling public during a lifting operation. Lane closures or delays may occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday according to VDOT . For more information on the bridge project, readers can send inquires to tia.freeman@vdot.virginia.gov.
