Spring 2007 on Chincoteague Island
The weekend of April 20-22 brought dramatic changes to Chincoteague Island Virginia. After weeks of cool, damp and windy weather, the skies cleared on Friday, April 20. The weekend was beautiful as visitors poured onto the island and nearby Assateague.
Downtown Chincoteague came to life as shoppers explored the streets. The beaches saw large numbers of enthusiasts, nature lovers and fishermen. Beautiful blue ocean water flowed into the back bays and flounder fishing over the weekend was some of the best in recent memory.
The Minitaur missle launch at nearby Wallops Island was re-scheduled twice and was finally set for April 23 but was again delayed.
